Pet Loss and Bereavement Support
Severe grief over the loss of a pet is natural and healthy. During the time you spend with your pet they become a significant and constant part of your life. Pets provide comfort, companionship, unconditional love, and acceptance. While, it is completely normal to feel devastated by the loss of such a rewarding relationship, there are always some people who do not understand the animal human bond and therefore, cannot relate to the pain you feel. Please remember, you are not alone.
The Pet Loss and Bereavement Support service at NorthStar VETS is not only here for your pets, but for YOU as well. We take our client's emotions and concerns into consideration and hope to achieve a support system that will help ease the necessary pain and grieving that comes with the loss or terminal diagnosis of a pet. It is our goal to support pet owners during this difficult period with kindness and empathy. Our Pet Loss and Bereavement Support Coach can assist by explaining what is normal and offer guidance as to what may help ease the pain or confusion for you and your family.
Our Pet Loss and Bereavement Support service works closely with the Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement (APLB). This organization provides online support groups for pet owners before, during and after the grieving process. There are many different ways of handling the grief you are feeling right now. If you find yourself having difficulty coping with the loss or terminal diagnosis of a pet, contact our coach directly at gschneller@northstarvets.com
Many questions, concerns, and emotions stem from such an unexpected situation. The range of emotions include anger, depression, anxiety and overall hopelessness. You are not alone in this process.
In the near future, Ms. Schneller will be hosting a NorthStar VETS support group using different methods such as online chats, in-person or conference call. You may contact Gina directly at gschneller@northstarvets.com or call the hospital.
